Cloé Waterfield – Wembley

Cloé WaterfieldWhen I found out I was going to be meeting the Jonas brothers I was so excited and I couldn’t wait.

So on the 21st November I went on the train to Wembley. I found the hotel that we were staying at and then got ready to go. I went and had tea I had McDonalds. I worked out all of my carbohydrates then got in to a taxi to Wembley Arena. My Mum then phoned Carole from the box office to come and get me and my younger brother Sam. TO GO AND MEET THE JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!!! When Carole found us we went up some stairs and then we went along a corridor and joined the back of a queue. We were so excited we met up with another girl and went in the queue with her. We had a special sticker that said meet and greet on it. When the queue started to move we were getting really excited.

When we finally reached thefront of the queue we were so excited because the JONAS BROTHERS were just around a corner! “AHHHHHHHH we're going to meet them I can’t wait” my brother Sam said. As we went around the corner and saw them Sam nearly FAINTED!!! We went up to the JONAS BROTHERS and they shook our hands and said “hi I’m (either Kevin, Nick, or Joe depending on which one said it)”. Then we got the chance to have a photo with them We were so pleased my heart was beating so fast I thought it would stop! When we had had a photo taken with them we both said at the same time “I am NEVER washing this hand AGAIN!”We then went and found our Mum and told her all about it. We all went to find our seats and the concert began it started with the group called Girls Can’t Catch. Then on came the JONAS BROTHERS we all screamed really loud.

It was a great concert even my Mum was up dancing and Nick told everyone about having diabetes which was really cool. I really enjoyed it and I had a great night. It is the best concert I have EVER been too! It just proves that Diabetes does sometimes pay off and it doesn’t stop me or Nick doing anything!

Jordan Kemp – Wembley

Jordan KempI had the most amazing night of my life, after winning one of several chances to meet the Jonas Brothers and get to watch them in concert. I entered the simple wins competition when my dad told me about an email he had got, through Bayer. I designed a poster about having type 1 diabetes, trying to explain how you feel when you are first diagnosed, also when you realise that having type 1 diabetes isn’t all that bad and you should just get on with your life as you did before. And trying to show that you can do whatever you want in life that is why it wrote the line “A little bit longer and I’ll be fine” As the emotional, song by Nick Jonas explains…

When I found out I had won one of the prizes I was so excited, and I couldn’t wait to tell everyone. In the week before the concert, I grew more and more excited and even more nervous; finally it was the day of the concert, and we went to Manchester shopping for the day, before the concert late that evening. But yet again all I could think about was the concert and meeting the Jonas Brothers, I had a camera with me to take loads of pictures and I took about a million batteries with me!! so that the camera would not run out of battery.

When we got to the M.E.N arena we had to wait for a Bayer representative to come and give us our tickets to get in, when they came they took us through to meet the Jonas brothers along with the other kids that had won. We got given our tickets and stickers to put on, which said “Meet and greet the Jonas Brothers” also a sheet of paper which said “you are invited to meet and greet the Jonas Brothers at the M.E.N arena, on Sunday 22nd November”, it was great.

As we were walking down through the M.E.N. arena to meet the Jonas Brothers, I was shocked at the size, and the amount of seats in the arena. But the most nerve-racking experience of all was waiting in the queue to meet them. When we got to the front we were lead into this small room where all we could see was a black material hanging down in front of us, as we got closer this man asked us to take off our bags and leave any phones or cameras behind.

THIS WAS IT!!! The moment I had been waiting for was finally here, as we walked around the corner, there they were THE JONAS BROTHERS! Kindly greeting me as I walked past. Welcoming me as a friend not just any average fan, I couldn’t stop smiling and I was too nervous to talk. Then as the camera man got us ready to take a picture, I turned around standing in between Joe and Nick. Their arms placed upon my shoulders, I smiled for the best picture that would ever be taken of me!

Then as they said goodbye, we were lead out of the small, but magnificent room. Next we went to find our seats, but I was speechless from the ten minutes before when the picture had been taken of us with the Jonas Brothers! It was unbelievable!

After waiting about 2 hours for it to start the opening act came on, a great girl band, who sang their hearts out to the audience. Then ….

Their opening song came on “We will rock you”. A thousand screams filled the M.E.N arena, my heart started racing. It was the most amazing feeling in the world, I loved it. The centre of the stage with the initials J.B on it was lowered, and as it came up again 3 figures were on it. The screams were louder than ever as the Jonas Brothers emerged from centre stage, clapping to the song “We will rock you” everyone rose to their feet showing the utmost respect for the magnificent Jonas Brothers!

The show started as screams still surrounded the large walls of the overcrowded arena, quietening down everyone could hear the song and started to sing along, it sounded as if the speakers were in your ears but, that was good because that made the atmosphere even better with everyone singing. After a few songs, Nick Jonas started to play the piano on his own ad the other two Jonas Brothers left the stage. Realising what song he was about to sing, the whole stadium was flooded with screams and cheers as Nick began to sing “A little bit longer and I’ll be fine”, the thousands of voices sang along, and I was up on my feet waving my arms and singing along, but about to cry I pulled myself together and completed what was the most amazing part of the night. For the rest of the night I was stood up cheering along, singing, screaming and enjoying myself, thinking of how lucky I was to have won this competition and got to watch the concert and meet the Jonas Brothers. As the show ended the Jonas Brothers ran off stage and the M.E.N was still full of screaming girls and boys, as we left. It was truly the most magnificent night ever, and hopefully I will get more chances to do things like this again.

I would like to thank the Jonas Brothers for making this a great night, they were fantastic in every way. One of the many amazing things they did was getting the audience involved, by asking them to be on their feet, singing along and clapping to the music, also dancing throughout the show. I’m sure everyone that went to watch the Jonas Brothers enjoyed it very much just like I did. They went to the greatest lengths to make sure we had the best night ever, thank you sooooo much !! xxxxxx

And thank the Bayer company so much for this once in a lifetime opportunity, and I hope to do this again.

Tacey Surrett

Tacy SurrettThank you so much for letting me have the chance to go to a Jonas Brothers concert! They are my favorite band now! It was the very best experience, because I would never have got to go to a concert. When I saw your email I was literally screaming. I had the time of my life. I was even crying tears of joy! I was so happy dancing and singing with the Jonas Brothers! I cannot believe I got to meet them!

I got my pump the next day, and when I was getting it I thought about Nick. Knowing that he also has diabetes makes me feel so special and it makes me feel like I am no different to anyone else. (I get emotional when I read that because it is really how I feel.)

Now you’re probably wondering why I am holding a picture of a boy. Well, this is my brother, and we both have diabetes. He couldn’t come, because he was at camp (going to camp was one of his “simple wins,” because my parents were with me at the concert.). So I brought his picture with me (I think the Jonas Brothers thought it was cool!).

I am so inspired by Nick and all that he is able to do. Now from him I know that I can follow my dreams when I get older. I love music and song-writing. That is one of my simple wins, and diabetes will never stop me from doing that.

No one has ever in my life made me as happy as I was at the concert! It was incredible! It was a memory I will never forget and will cherish forever.

Thank you!!!
Tacy Surrett, Age 9

SIMPLE WINS
I’m a girl with diabetes
I love to swim and run
All my life I’ve been doing shots
But also having fun!

It doesn’t get me down
When I walk around
I’m always getting low
I always have a go.

Of course, I’m only nine
So I have got some time
I am hangin’ in
And that’s my Simple Win!

Lydia Dean

Right from the beginning of entering the NickSimpleWins Competition I never thought in a million years that I would win. My mum kept saying to me, “don’t be too disappointed, they are The Jonas Brother after all and everyone wants to see them and will be entering the competition”.

When I got home on Friday after school my mum told me there was a message on the telephone, I listened, shook myself then listened for second time. Then I screamed….. OMG it has come true, I am going to meet the Jonas Brothers. My sister was standing next to me and I immediately said “you can come with me”, she then started screaming!!

I swam that night and told everyone at the Swimming Club, no-one really believed me and of course I had no proof.

Anyway the day arrived and I was so nervous, we left our house at 3.00pm, so not to be late, the rain was pouring down, I was sure that my levels were going to be sky high due to excitement, my sister was just a bundle of shakiness.

We arrived at Wembley Arena and got soaked, we asked at the Box Office for our contact from Bayer who showed us where to go. We waited outside for about 20 minutes then the security man told us to come in from the rain and to wait inside. We then waited for a further 30 minutes and we were told to follow the Team Jonas Men. There must have been about 100 people waiting for the Meet and Greet, I wasn’t expecting that, I though we were the only ones.

We were lined up on the stairs backstage, we were about halfway down the queue, I was worried about having a hypo as I hadn’t eaten and we had to wait for another 40 minutes. My mum spoke to the Team Jonas security man about my worries and he immediately moved us to second in the queue. How great was that? Sometimes Diabetes does have its benefits.

Another 40 minutes and we were told to go through these doors where our bags were put on a table. We were ushered through behind these screens and THERE THEY WERE. OMG, OMG, OMG…. Speechless, They were gorgeous, I was speechless, I really wanted to say to Nick, “I am diabetic too” and show him my dog tag, but I felt a little bewildered. They hugged my sister and me then we had our photograph taken. It went very quickly but after I could not believe we have just met the brothers!

We then went and bought a load of merchandise like you do and had some dinner in the restaurant.

The Concert started and wow!!!!!! again, there they were, they were perfect, especially Nick. Even my mum was up dancing. The concert was fantastic but at the end my head was spinning trying to think of another way of meeting Nick, I will just have to keep checking the website I thought.

I got home and my sugar levels were very high, but we weren’t worried about it as the excitement and adrenalin had kicked in. I went to bed looking at my programme and dreamt……….

Thanks Bayer for the opportunity….

Ashley Kidgell

Ashley KidgellWhen I found out that I was going to meet the Jonas Brothers I was absolutely stunned. I’d always longed to see them in person and now my wishes were going to come true. It was in Dublin and when we got there the wind was so strong I thought it was going to blow me over! Then the rain started and that was even worse, freezing cold and it drenched me through to my skin. It was worth it though. When we got inside the O2, my friend Lauren and I were so excited; we were practically jumping up and down!

When we actually met them I felt on top of the world, and will keep the passes and pictures forever. The concert afterwards was also brilliant. We had been to one at the Wembley Arena in London in June, but that was nothing compared to this one. They were on a rotating stage and played all of my favourite songs. I was hoarse after from all the singing and screaming, and fell asleep very quickly. I will never forget it and thanks Bayer for giving me one of the best days of my life.

Melanie Brown – Wembley

Melanie BrownA big thank you to you all for the opportunity to go to Wembley and meet the Jonas Brothers. As I am a huge fan of theirs, I could not believe it when I got the e-mail through saying that I had won! I rang up my best friend and told her the great news, she was screaming down the phone!

We live just on the border line of Devon and Cornwall, so it took along time to get to Wembley it took something like 5 and a half hours just to get up to London, but it was all worth while as the concert was fantastic and meeting them was just incredible, as I look up to Nick Jonas it was an experience I will never forget.

The Jonas Brothers were so polite I mean they had to have met allot of people but still they were very friendly. The actual concert though, was amazing, they are such brilliant singers and our seats were perfect, Nicks song about diabetes really moved me, it was such an inspirational song, that it never gets him down! I didn't want the concert to end as it was such a fun experience but it had to some time, but I still have all the pictures and videos, so I will never forget it!

Thank you again so much,   Melanie Brown

Rachael Jappy – Newcastle

My day started when I got up at 6.00 and scored the final day of my countdown off my calendar. Once I was all ready to go my friend who was coming with me came over. Rowan (my friend), my mum and I drove up to the nearest train station and boarded the train that would take us to the Jonas Brothers!!!!! Whilst we were on the train Rowan and I wrote a letter to the Jonas Brothers saying thank-you for the tickets and meet and greet passes then we listened to some of their songs and spoke about what we were going to do when we met them!!!!!

Soon we arrived in Newcastle and checked into our hotel. We were bouncing off the walls with excitement!!! After getting ready to go we called a taxi and went to the Metro Arena. When we got there we met up with Suzanne Caw and got out passes. Then we queued up ready to go!!! We had to wait for quite a while so I ended up having to go into the first aid room to do my insulin and then eat my tea in the line. Eventually we were taken through to meet them (I still hadn't finished eating a banana). We had to walk along the back of the theatre where Nick Jonas was singing and playing guitar by himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was soooooo cool but funny as well because everyone started to scream and he didn't know what was going on!!!

After we were all shown backstage a Disney USA reporter came out with a camera man and started to interview people!!!! It was really awesome. Then the screaming started again. The Jonas Brothers had entered the room!!! We were told to line up then one by one we could go behind the screen and meet them!! It seemed like forever but it was finally our turn. So Rowan and I took a deep breath and then turned the corner. We really couldn't believe it was them standing there in front of us it was amazing. I don't think we would have moved unless Kevin had come forward to shake our hands. We shook all of their hands and then we got our picture taken they spoke for a couple of minuets but then we had to go

We then went to the merchandise stand and got T-shirts and stuff. Then we went through to the theatre and found out seats. The seats were amazing!! After a while the warm up act came on they were good but everyone just wanted to see the Jonas Brothers!!!! soon three big black boxes were wheeled past us and under the stage. We all wondered what was in them but we soon found out. THE JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone was screaming and jumping around. Suddenly the lights dimmed and music started. Then three people started to rise up from the middle of the stage it was them.

The show was amazing and I don't think I will ever see anything like it again and it was the best experience of my life especially when Nick sang "A little bit longer" I will never ever forget it.

Chloe Gillum – Birmingham

Chloe GillumWaiting out side the door to meet the Jonas Brothers I can’t believe it is finally here, as we walk down the long corridor to the meet and greet site I can hear them doing their sound check it sounds amazing and it makes me even more excited (If that’s possible) for the concert. As me and Trudi go into the room to meet the boys we become even more excited, we get to shake the boys hands and have a photo taken.

After the meet and greet we go back and find our seats for the concert to begin we are so excited, firstly we hear Girls Can’t Catch they were amazing and sort of remind us of The Saturdays! We then have a little break between them and the Jonas Brothers and decide to talk to some of the other girls the other winners were really friendly and chatty too and seemed to be as excited as us.

Suddenly we see 3 little black Boxes being pushed under the stage we start wondering if it is them or are we going to have too keep waiting longer??? And then suddenly lights start flashing and the centre stage starts rising and there they are.

The rest of the concert was amazing I danced a lot and sang along, the boys sang all my favourites from That’s Just the Way We Roll to World War 3. They did two encores including mine and Trudi's favourite Burning Up!

We left the concert on a buzz and with our ears ringing from the screaming we did! It is something we shall never forget! Even my mum enjoyed it!!

George & Libby Dove – Manchester

I loved going to meet the Jonas Brothers I thought it was a great opportunity. I particularly liked the part where Nick Jonas talked about himself being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I am very grateful and had an amazing time. I was very very very excited about going. I think George enjoyed it too because he looked very happy throughout the whole concert. When I got there I was astonished with how huge the venue was. I was absolutely amazed by meeting the Jonas Brothers and thank you loads and loads for letting me have the greatest opportunity.

I was blown away with how loud it was and when I met them they were very friendly but taller than I expected. I didn’t mind how far back I was or how far forward, I just enjoyed it any how. It was unbelievable when I actually met the Jonas brothers. I felt very comfy there as there were other people my age. Even though I go on stage dancing and am quite nervous I don’t know how they cope by going on a massive stage and with a massive audience like they did. I didn’t feel disappointed at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely would go to a concert like that again. I also felt very humble when nick Jonas was talking about Bayer and type 1 diabetes. Libby Dove – Age 9

Going to meet the Jonas brothers was a great opportunity and I really enjoyed it. Meeting them was great. It was very moving when Nick spoke about his diabetes and then he later went on to mention Bayer which I thought was very nice of him. It was very loud and it gave me that real concert experience (it was my first concert). The Jonas brothers were very friendly people and were also polite and kind. They are great singers and were good at playing there instruments. I loved going to meet them and am very grateful for the tickets. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. George Dove – Age 11
